Great Games For When You've Only Got Five Minutes

Some days you don't have an hour. You have the length of a coffee queue. The trick is finding games designed for exactly that, so you're not stuck mid-level when your name gets called.

The best short-session games save instantly and let you leave without penalty. Casual matchers are the classic example — you clear a board, you feel done, you close the app with no guilt.

Look for games where a single round is genuinely satisfying on its own. Arcade racers and quick puzzlers do this well; a two-minute lap or a solved board is a complete little experience, not a fragment of a bigger one.

Avoid anything with long mandatory intros or fights you can't pause. Nothing worse than opening a game for five minutes and spending three of them watching an unskippable cutscene.

Keep two or three of these installed and rotate them. Variety stops any one from getting stale, and you'll always have the right length of game for the gap you've got.
