Simple Settings That Save Your Battery While Gaming
Nothing ends a good gaming session faster than a battery warning. The good news is that most mobile games hand you the tools to fix it — you just have to dig into the settings, which almost nobody does.
Start with the frame rate cap. Dropping from 60 to 30 frames is often invisible in slower games and can massively cut power draw. Racing and action games benefit most because they push the hardware hardest.
Next, look for a graphics preset. High settings light up the whole screen with effects, and effects are what heat your phone up. Medium usually looks nearly identical while running far cooler, which also protects performance over long sessions.
Screen brightness is the quiet culprit. Turning it down a couple of notches indoors saves more than any single in-game setting. Pair that with turning off vibration feedback and you'll notice the difference before your commute ends.
Finally, close background apps before a long session. It sounds obvious, but a phone juggling ten apps has less to spare for the game you actually want to play.
